Another gem from Hindu mythology, one of those stories that transcends time, bringing both smiles and reflection. They are myths, yes, but myths filled with wisdom.
Hanuman, half divine and half monkey, embodies strength, lightness, and devotion. He is remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for the way he served: with humility, courage, and deep love for Lord Rama, who represents the ideal of virtue, wisdom, and dharma (the path of righteousness).
It is said that when Hanuman was a child, he saw the Sun in the sky and mistook it for a golden mango. Eager to catch it, he leapt into the heavens. Indra, King of the Gods and Lord of Thunder, alarmed by such boldness, struck him with a lightning bolt. Hanuman fell, injuring his jaw. He carries that mark to this day. Not as a weakness, but as a reminder of something precious: the beauty that can be found in imperfection.
Years later, when Sita, Rama’s wife and a symbol of purity and love, was abducted by Ravana, the Demon King, and taken to Sri Lanka, it was Hanuman who crossed the ocean in a single leap, carrying a message of hope. And when Lakshmana, Rama’s brother, lay between life and death, Hanuman set out in search of a rare healing herb. Unable to identify the correct plant, he did the impossible: he lifted the entire mountain and carried it with him. This illustration depicts that very moment, with the sacred mountain in one hand and his mace in the other, surrounded by light.
Hanuman possessed extraordinary strength and was capable of remarkable feats. Yet his true greatness lies in offering everything with an open heart. He acts without ego, protects without measure, and loves without condition. To serve with sincerity is the greatest power of all.
Jaya Hanuman!
